A LITTLE HOUSECLEANING

I live and work in a beautiful and thriving area.  Some facts:

• Texas was again the #1 state to do business in 2008 according to CNBC;
• The Texas Hill Country topped the NY Times (!!!) list of "31 Places to Go..." last summer;
• Burnet County (TX) and its surrounding counties are regularly among the fastest growing in the entire United States according to the Census Bureau.
• According to Money Magazine, Marble Falls is among "6 Terrific Towns On the Water" and among the best places in the country to retire.
• Of the Top 20 "Best U.S. Cities for Jobs" on this ABC News list, 8 are in Texas.

These facts are not new nor are they foreign to those of us who live, work and play here.  The word is out.  Texas is a great place to live and do business. 

LATE ADDITION: In March, Chief Executive magazine also named Texas its "Best State For Business" for the fourth consecutive year.  Not surprisingly, New York and California retained spots 50 and 51 for the same four years.

Welcome to the Small Business Texan blog.  The mission here is two fold: 1) to promote and defend small business interests; and 2) to promote all things Texan.  They are not mutually exclusive objectives in many instances.  For example, did you know that 70% of all private sector jobs created in the U.S. were created right here in Texas in 2008?  True.  And that for the 7th consecutive year, Texas led the country in exports?  Also true.
